The Second Coming
This video pretty much explains the basics of fundamentalist Protestant ideas on the Second Coming. I chose this video because it doesn't really delve into the Rapture and pre-trib stuff that causes arguments between Catholics and Protestants. But what do Catholics believe? Will Jesus come again? Certainly. Will he take his followers out of the world then come later to get the rest of his new followers? That would be three coming, and the answer is no. It's a particular belief that no one believed before Scofield's time. The Catholic Church is not premillenialist or pre-trib or any of that. Your blog is right on! And the Church has never taught anything even remotely resembling the Protestant evangelical fantasy known theologically as the "pretribulation rapture" - the endish view merchandised by Hagee, LaHaye, Falwell etc. for political agendas. For some unusual glimpses over the wall into sacred Raptureland, move to Google or other engines and type in "Pretrib Rapture Diehards" (how the 176-year-old rapture "shell game" came from Britain to America), "Thomas Ice (Bloopers)" (whose Ph.D from a tiny, almost unknown seminary stands for "pretrib history distorter"), "Famous Rapture Watchers" (the only "rapture" view before 1830), "Appendix F: Thou Shalt Not Steal" (plagiarism galore among rapture-ranters!), and "The Rapture Index (Mad Theology)" (the "precursors" that supposedly lead up to a pretrib rapture and prove its existence are actually fulfilled AFTER that point in time and point to only the final parousia of Matthew 24 and not to a "pretrib" coming that no pre-1830 church ever taught!). What's really crazy is that the same pretribulationism/dispensationalism/armageddonism is now influencing even America's Mid East policies - proof that what should be raptured away is the pretrib rapture itself!
